Graffiti Removal in the Park
Many thanks to the neighbors who volunteered Sunday to remove the 18th Street Gang tagging in Picnic Area 13. Mark Roper, Louise Ferro, Michael Green, Susan Harmon, Brian Siberell, Brad Chambers, Schelley Kiah, John Girodo, and a sympathetic couple nobody knew rolled up their sleeves and tackled the job at hand.
John deserves praise for his cheerful persistance on the Park Committee. He introducing us
to art conservator, Donna Williams. Donna's magic biodegradable potions helped minimize the gang spray painting. The unsightly tagging done last month.

Bowl Maintenance planted creeping fig at the base of the wall. Eventually this will be a deterrent.
The next step will be to sponge over the remaining graffiti with water-based tempera that matches the existing stone color.
The presence of SLO Annabelle Eubank and Officer Brenda was most appreciated. The Chambers’s hose was a godsend.
The event yielded praise from city, county, and law enforcement. How these agencies view our community influences their willingness to help us with lighting and a Sheriff substation.

WHCA and Hollywood Heritage Museum sponsored the workshop. More activation projects are underway.
