Last night, at about 3 a.m., we heard someone who somehow had gotten into our backyard on Emmet Terrace even though we have a tall wrought-iron fence and gate in front of the house and fences in the backyard that are inaccessible from surrounding properties.

The 21-year-old guy named Jay was delusional. We thought he was a robber but he said he had been chased by people and was seeking safety. He seemed to be drugged up.

We called the police, but it took them at least 15 minutes to get there. I am glad the guy wasn’t armed or the situation more dangerous.

Police handcuffed him and took him away to be assessed.
