STOLEN - car catalytic converter
Last night at 5:37am two individuals in a red sedan crawled under my lifted Ford F-250 pickup truck and stole the catalytic converter. The truck was parked in front of my house at the end of Holly Hill Terrace in the same spot it is parked every night. The thieves used power tools, and were gone in 4 minutes.
I'm posting this here to notify the community. I was surprised to learn how quickly the theft happened. Electric/Hybrid cars are not immune either. Selling this piece of equipment is highly valued because of the metal inside it. Cost to replace this will likely be $800 to $1,200. Value to the thieves... maybe $100 - $250.
I've filed a police report, and will be getting a cage clamp to hopefully prevent future theft. I'll be looking into this for my other vehicles too. Our neighbors Helen and James had Ring camera video of the incident, which I'll be giving to police. If you have a tall vehicle, be on the lookout. These people were well-equipped and obviously practiced in this type of theft.
Sadly this isn't a vehicle I just keep around for pleasure. It's not my daily driver. I use it primarily to transport underrepresented college students to the desert as part of the non-profit my spouse and I co-founded. We have used it to bring supplies to the Hollywood Food Coalition. When the fires were so bad that people needed help evacuating their horses, we helped out.
I'm attaching the video. If you have any footage or pictures of information that may help identify these individual, your help would be appreciated. Be careful and stay vigilant.
