Break-in Friday night while we were home- 6672 Whitley Ter
Hi Everyone,
This is our first time posting on here so hopefully we don't do it wrong.
Friday night around 11:50pm we woke up to aggressive banging on our front door. Schooner went downstairs and saw a man pressed up against the door claiming that he lived here. Charlotte immediately started calling 911 in the meantime. After thinking the man was heading back up to street level, Schooner came upstairs to speak to the 911 operators. At this point, we heard glass breaking from our back living room doors and we locked ourselves in the bedroom until the police arrived.
Thankfully, that night we were dog sitting a 120lb Bernese Mt. Dog who is not social so she started barking like crazy as soon as she saw Schooner upset. We think this is what deterred him from coming too far inside. We also had a puppy in a crate so I'm sure the excessive amount of noise made it not worth it. Nothing was stolen, but after police arrived they discovered blood all on our front door that must have been on his hand while he was banging on the door.
With the help of Mark next door and his security camera, they did catch a suspect that night, but given the timing of the banging on the front door and the crash from the back door they believe there is a possibility of two people involved. Overall, LAPD were amazing and got here extremely fast (including their helicopter). They waited with us until photographs were able to come around 4am. Fingerprints team is still coming Monday for the prints on the glass door and the bloody prints in the front.
POST also was amazing and they told us last night that they will be doing extra security around our area for a while. We are speaking with them again tomorrow to replace alarm sensors and add additional ones.
If you have any footage around the area that night, please feel free to reach out to us so we can pass on to the detective working our case.
Thanks,
Schooner and Charlotte

Thank you for posting your bad experience, Charlotte and Schooner. In spite of being bolted awake you did everything right - so did the dogs. The community is grateful that you are all safe. Report that the suspect was arrested is a big relief. A bloody hand is a strong evidence.
LAPD Hollywood Division is remarkable. Law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Officers put themselves in harm's way day and night to protect us. They are courageous men and women.
I have seen Post patrolling our streets more often in recent weeks. When walking our pups, I always flag their car down and chat with the officer on duty.
Brian and I live at 2025 Grace Avenue. Our cameras show no suspicious person(s) on foot Friday night or Saturday morning. A police cruiser with roof-lights flashing drove slowly by our property at 12:11 AM.
It passed by again slowly. This time traveling in the opposite direction at 12:16 AM.
