Whitley Heights was designed with charming shortcuts. Las Palmas and Emmet Terrace steps are affectionately known as the Starbucks Stairs. Due to security concerns WHCA board voted to change the lock code. The new code is 19230 for both upper and lower locks. Fun fact: Whitley Heights Civic Association was founded in 1923.

Our community has no legal right to keep people from using public staircases. We have support from LAPD to lock certain gates on the hill as long as codes are made available when asked. Curious people are welcome to explore our historic neighborhood. We want only to deters loiterers.

Laminated notices appear on both gates. Anyone can call the Hot Line number or send an email to several address provided. Whitley Heights volunteers and board members will reply quickly with the new code. Again, 19230.
