Knock, Knock burglars
Greetings,
Earlier this afternoon, I attended a crime control meeting to discuss crime trends in Hollywood Division. I wanted to advise you that there is another trend of “Knock, Knock, Burglars” that is occurring in our North Hollywood Division. There have been some reports of these incidents occurring in Hollywood but the crimes seem to be on the rise in North Hollywood.
The basis of these burglaries are occurring during the day. The burglars are knocking on the front doors of residences in the attempt to see if anyone is home. If the location looks like it can be compromised, the burglars will attempt to take advantage of the residence and break in.
Please remember, these suspects are professional and act in teams of two to nine. At times they are target specific. This means that they are targeting houses which they feel have a high turn around in value either in money, jewelry, and guns. I was recently advised that a group of 9 burglars were arrested near my residence in Glendora with a similar pattern of approach. They were targeting the house because of guns. These suspects were from Lancaster, which shows that these suspects travel far distances to commit their crimes.
I would like you all to share this information in your areas. There is no need to be paranoid but just be diligent. Use good judgement and report anything that seems unusual or unsafe. Please call 911 if you need too.
Thank you,
Manny Sanchez
