Update - Man In Need of Mental Evaluation
On Monday at 8:00 am residents encountered a troubled man wearing only green pants. He displayed unusual behavior that only escalated. Neighbors felt unsafe.
911 calls brought the police four times to Whitley Terrace, Grace Avenue, and Emmet Terrace during the course of 12 hours. The officers were patient and spent hours of their valuable time talking with him.
Post Patrol, ACS Patrol, LAFD, and CIRCLE tried to get the man to agree to accept help. He resisted. By 8 pm the streets were quiet and peaceful again. No man. All agencies were gone.
Here is Senior Lead Officer Heather Mata's update:
"It looks like the man was placed in handcuffs to evaluate for a possible 51.50 hold. Officers and LAFD determined that he did not meet the criteria and was then released. They had no reports of any other crime.
You all did the right thing by calling 911. Individuals like this are extremely unpredictable and can be dangerous. I’m sorry I was not here to help on Monday."
Thank you Officer Mata and LAPD Hollywood Division for all you do to keep us safe.

WHCA purchased and installed a new License Plate Reader camera on Milner Road. The community now has three.

Thanks for all this information. So glad to hear all the forces worked togther to deal with the situation.
