The Area Planning Commission is hearing an Appeal of the approval, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 @ 4:30PM.. If it does go to court, your comments will be part of the record and could have an impact. After many HHWNC 'Joint Committee Meetings' where the Hotel project was 'presented' with community/stakeholder input, HHWNC could not support the project..and submitted a 'Community Impact Statement' (CIS), expressing their opposition. Opposition due to a number of 'issues', i.e. ...Impacts on the residential community on Wilcox, and not the least of which, the Loss of more Affordable/RSO (Rent Stabilized) Housing for another Hotel in this area, in the midst of an affordable housing and homeless crisis...:. Project was originally presented to the NC as a new residential project with more residential and (greatly needed) affordable units than the existing complex, but morphed into another hotel project, to be built next door to 'The Whiskey Hotel' going up now. That's 'side by side' hotels.
