There is an ongoing problem with the Bella Vista Way gate with the code. Not the top one by the chess board, but the bottom one. There is a woman who parks her silver Mercedes, blocking the gate. Most of the time, I can squeeze through.  

I asked her once six months ago when I happened to run into her (coming back from the farmers market) while she parked to please not block the gate, a reasonable request.  She wasn’t nice about it. She said F off.

Around 5 PM tonight, I was using the Bella Vista stairway going down, and a couple was trying to come up simultaneously.  Her Mercedes completely blocked the gate, and it was unpassable. It’s so annoying, so I yelled at the houses there to move the car; you have to yell there; the freeway is loud. I found she lives in what looks like a little ADU-type structure through where a sign says Beware of dog. 

She started yelling at me, and I couldn’t hear her above the freeway noise. Then, as I got closer, she completely freaked out on me and in front of this couple, trying to come up.  Without getting into the profanities hurled at me, she said she had just had surgery and didn’t need this, and we were too lazy to walk around. 

Well, that is a public walkway I’ve used multiple times a week for over thirty years, and as much as we all want the gates with a code on them, this entitled BS behavior will have the gates removed by the city.  The legality of having a private gate on a public walkway is a gray area. I’m not sure who owns that property on the bottom part there, but maybe someone on FB does? It rattled me, and I don’t want to report it to the city, but I suggest whoever owns that property set that woman straight. That is a public thoroughfare, and you can’t park blocking that gate, period.
