Concrete Street Repairs to Commence!
Dear WHCA Community Members,
After many years of tireless dedication and hard work, the WHCA Board is happy to report that we recently received notification - on November 6th to be exact - from the Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Bureau of Street Services (BSS) confirming phase one details, along with a schedule, for "concrete" street repairs in WH. As identified and communicated by DPW/BSS, the work is projected/scheduled to take place over the next four weekends, excluding the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. YES, the work will commence this weekend. The work areas slated for repair, which are currently and clearly identified with white paint markings, are as follows:
- Weekend of Nov 9th: Whitley Ave between Whitley Terr & Grace Ave.
- Weekend of Nov 16th: Whitley Terrace between Wedgewood Pl & Wedgewood Pl.
- Weekend of Nov 23rd: Whitley Terrace between Milner Rd and Grave Ave.
- Weekend of Dec 7th: Whitley Terrace between Grace Ave and Bonaire Pl.
Although we recognize any potential inconvenience due to the short notice, specifically with regard to this weekend, we ask that we all keep our eye on the prize - an initiative that has been in the works for nearly 20 years is finally coming to fruition.
That said, below are further logistics that the WHCA Board has been apprised of surrounding project details and timeline:
1. Project work will take place over the identified weekends (Sat & Sun).
2. Working hours are projected for 6:00a-4:30p on said days.
3. Street Cleaning services will work around the construction areas.
4. Trash pickup will also work around the construction
5. Parking Enforcement has been asked to be lenient during project working hours.
Again, this undertaking has been a WHCA labor of love for many years. Please rejoice with us in achieving, what we deem, a milestone accomplishment in the ongoing preservation of our communities rich history.
Sincerely,
The WHCA Board
