Hollywood Bowl Community Advisory Board meeting

The Hollywood Bowl Community Advisory Board met Dec. 6. Here are some highlights and news updates:

- Daniel Song, chief operating officer at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, said the Hollywood Bowl was able to put together a reduced concert season after being shuttered last year, and, for the first time, implemented digital-parking passes.

- The Hollywood Bowl was supposed to celebrate its centennial anniversary this year, but that will be postponed to next year.

- Next year, all the park-and-ride locations will be running. A new park-and-ride location will be added in Inglewood.

- The first concert next year will be a lease event on April 8. Free tickets for neighboring Hollywood Bowl residents will return. The Dead & Company band won’t be returning next year.

- Traffic was a major topic. Members of the advisory board suggested setting aside money from the lease events, when traffic is heaviest, and hiring traffic police to direct traffic in outlying areas such as the Hollywood Dell or Outpost Estates.

- Hollywood Bowl representatives said the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, known as Metro, was considering three possible northern extensions of the Crenshaw/LAX line that could possibly end up at the Hollywood Bowl. Construction would begin in 2041. More about that topic will be discussed at the next Hollywood Bowl Community Advisory Board meeting.

Thanks for this update, Debbie.

Bye-bye Dead and Company. Bowl maintenance crew worked tirelessly to clean up parking lot D and picnic areas 11, 12, and 13. Ungrateful Deadheads left behind a wasteland.
