Hollywood Heritage recommended the following points to bring up as to why the buildings should be saved:
-The buildings are in an official 'Historic District'
’Hollywood North Multifamily Historic District’ also ‘Grace Ave. Historic District’
-It has been Surveyed for 'SurveyLA', and will be included in The Hollywood Community Plan 2019 update.
-Historic information is included in the Survey.
-The Historic District is protected by CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act)
-The whole block is in the Historic District and is important, not just these two buildings.
-The architects are impressive and in all the Surveys...
- H.J. Knauer ............(1885 - 1955)
-Clarence J. Smale....(1886 - 1966)
-There are a number of other historic buildings on Grace Ave:
The N. F. Stokes Residence... (built in 1917).....1905 Grace Ave.....Historic Cultural Monument # 1095
The El Cabrillo Apartments..... (built by Cecil B. DeMille in 1928).....1832-1850 Grace Ave.....Historic Cultural Monument #773
Hollywood Heritage asked us to make sure and include to CD13:
"No Demos Should Ever Be Approved Without a Planned Project"
Please spread the word to friends and neighbors...especially if you know anyone in CD13, and tell them to make sure to let the council district office know they are CD13 constituents.
