Parking Enforcement to Resume on July 6
Los Angeles, CA (June 26, 2020) –––
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) announced that beginning on July 6, 2020, the City will resume enforcement for certain parking regulations that had been relaxed during the City’s Safer at Home orders. Enforcement will resume for the following previously relaxed categories:
Residential street sweeping
Peak/Rush Hour and Anti-Gridlock zone restrictions
Abandoned vehicles (72-hour rule)
Expired registrations
Loading zones (white curb) resume 10-minute grace period
The City will continue to observe relaxed enforcement for the following categories:
"No Overnight/Oversized Vehicle" parking zones are relaxed.
Vehicles with recently expired Preferential Parking Permits will not be cited
The payment due date for existing citations will be extended until 8/1/2020.
Late payment penalties on existing citations will be delayed until 8/1/2020.
Individuals who can document that they are unemployed are eligible to have late penalties waived (unemployment waiver) if they pay the base citation by the end of the 2020 calendar year. Individuals interested in an "unemployment waiver" should contact LADOT's customer care hotline at (866) 561-9742.
Individuals with financial hardship are eligible for a payment plan. Contact (866) 561-9742.
All other parking enforcement categories will continue to be enforced as they have been throughout the safer at home order. These categories include:
Metered parking
Time limits within preferential parking districts for vehicles without a valid or recently-expired permit
Posted time limit zones in residential and commercial areas
All posted Temporary No-Parking signs
No blocking emergency access (alleyways, fire hydrants, etc.)
Colored curb zones
Parking restrictions for City-owned lots
In addition, LADOT will continue to provide free temporary pick-up zone parking signs for eligible retail and food-service providers. Businesses can apply for a pick-up zone on the LADOT website. LADOT continues to adjust operations to assist residents and businesses to comply with physical distancing requirements and limit the spread of COVID-19. These include a Slow Streets program to designate streets in residential areas for active use, online hearing and permitting procedures, elimination of pedestrian push buttons at intersections with high pedestrian activity, food and retail pick-up parking zones, switching traffic signals to "night mode" to reduce speeding, meal delivery by transit services, fare-free rides on all DASH routes, and service changes on transit lines. More information about LADOT's coronavirus response is available at ladot.lacity.org/coronavirus.
