Multiple Street Lights Out
For the past few nights, many of our lampposts have been dark. It is very concerning. Enrique Sanchez, engineer Bureau of Street Lighting, is well aware of this problem. Many of you have submitted Service Requests through myla311 app. Thank you for being proactive.
This morning Enrique wrote:
"I appreciate the update. There is a proposed project to renovate the system in your area. This could be part of the problem. When construction is ongoing, the power to the lights is disrupted. I will look into this
matter further and try to provide you with an update."
My email to Enrique:
"No lights on Milner Road down to Highland. No lights on Watsonia, Las Palmas or Bonair Place. Intermittent street lights on Whitley Terrace and Grace Avenue. All lights are working on Whitley Avenue and Wedgewood. I can’t speak to Emmet, Holly Hill or Fairfield. Nor did I drive to Iris Circle as I was told it is on a different grid."
Whitley Heights bands together to promote a quality of life neighborhood much like fire ants who survive floods by linking their legs and mandibles together to form a floating raft. They actively sense changes and act accordingly - a textbook example of collective behavior.
Our website and FaceBook page were created to communicate information quickly. Residents can participate on one or both platforms. The FB page is inclusive and lively. Our newsletter is published every other month. We seek to maintain a healthy, secure, beautiful community.
A note about our Wix website. It replaced DwellingLive in September 2017. It cost $14 a month compared to DwellingLive - $220 per month.
The log in process is in place to protect everyone's privacy. Nobody can access Forums/Archives/
Member Directory/Community unless he/she becomes a site member. In order to be approved one has to give a street address and name that matches our master membership list. Currently, we have 397 Whitley Heights site members. There are 96 pending approvals. That is the number of people who have sought access over the years but were unable to provide further information. Our public pages are filled with historic photographs and history. No wonder folks want to see more.
