Milner Water Main Replacements
Hello neighbors,
I had an email exchange this morning with Stephen Bruck, the supervisor for the water main replacement project beginning today. I am attaching a list of my questions regarding the project and his answers to them.
Please email him at your earliest convenience to ask if you may be included on the email list for any updates regarding the project. That way everyone can keep informed as to the progress. His address is: Stephen.Bruck@ladwp.com
If you have additional questions, please let me know and I will continue our exchange.
His response:
Good morning,
Please see the answer to your questions below:
1) Will we be allowed to park on our streets overnight? Will there be metal plates covering the excavated areas so we can drive up and down the streets when work is completed for each day? Yes
2) Will delivery services such as USPS, UPS, FEDEX and Amazon have any access to our addresses during the working hours, and in the evenings? Yes, but may have to access from opposite directions that they are not use to. We will work with them to make it as easy as possible.
3) Will we be allowed to park on adjacent streets such as Whitley Terrace which have parking restrictions on street sweeping days (Mondays 8-10am?) Street sweeping times are still enforceable, so I would not park where it says you shouldn’t. I can inquire about relaxed no parking, but no guarantee's on that.
4) How long do you anticipate the project to last? Do you have an estimated completion date? The total project, not including the streets we are currently focusing on should be 10-12 months (estimated). The current streets, Milner, Watsonia, Las Palmas, 4-5 months.
5) Will the entire length of Milner Road be closed until the work is completed, or will it be performed in segments? I’m wondering if the houses east of Watsonia will be affected the same amount of time as those west. Segments, we are starting at Highland/Milner and working our way East up to the end of Milner/Whitley Terr & Watsonia. It will be easy to see how the workflow goes once we get started.
We will be on Milner from Highland to Las Palmas the next two days to get some preliminary work done and then we will be back on Friday and most likely Saturday this week. We wont pass Las Palmas for a few weeks most likely, as we don’t want to bite off more than we can chew or disrupt the neighborhood unnecessarily and we are also wrapping up another project close by which requires us to go back and forth.
I hope this helps!
