Dear Neighbor: As the Neighborhood Prosecutor in Hollywood, I saw firsthand how our City has broken down: homelessness on the streets, crumbling infrastructure, and unresponsive City agencies. These failures stem from a lack of leadership and accountability at City Hall. I want to change the way our City operates-which is why I’m running for the Los Angeles City Council in District Four. We all see the visible signs of brokenness. And I can tell you that the view I see from the inside is even worse. Our homeless response agency is designed to fail. Our City’s bureaucracy is impenetrable and is choking out everything from small business to new housing. Our most essential city services are losing personnel faster than they can hire them. At a time when our City’s budget has never been larger, services have never been worse. But my view from the inside has also shown me why we are in this mess and how we can get out of it. We must redesign our City. The plan for how we accomplish this is the reason I am running for CD4. The plan starts with understanding the failures of culture, of structure, and of processes that are grinding our City to a halt. Then we need a practical and realistic plan to address these failures. Finally we need a positive vision for our City’s future to guide how our City will grow. Most of all we need leaders who deliver. I have a track record of just this kind of leadership, but to get to City Hall I need your help! I believe that the residents of CD4 are frustrated with the lack of responsiveness from City Hall. To get my message out and reach the voters is expensive. To win this race, I need to raise $1,100 a day, every day, for the next 400 days.
