From UN4LA..Hollywood Community Plan Update - Public Hearing Feb.18th

From UN4LA - United Neighborhoods for Los Angeles Public Hearings are for the Public to speak out. This hearing may be Hollywood communities last chance. If you don’t want decisions as to how your Hollywood area/neighborhood is developed, to be up to Planning Dept., with no Community Input or Neighborhood Council participation, with plans for a 100% increase in Density Bonuses and Massive Upzoning in this area, and no right to 'Appeal' projects... If you are concerned about Densification and Upzoning, bringing much larger projects and many more cars to the area, as the city considers eliminating traffic lanes on Hollywood Blvd. and replacing on Franklin, Yucca, and Selma with bicycle lanes... If you are concerned about protecting U.S. National Register of Historic Places, Hollywood Blvd., and Hollywood's Historic Resources... Please speak out at the Feb. 18th City Planning Commission Public Hearing.

UPCOMING PUBLIC HEARING ON HOLLYWOOD COMMUNITY PLAN UPDATE:

100% DENSITY INCREASES, DIRECTOR OF PLANNING APPROVES PROJECTS, NO APPEALS

On Thursday, February 18, the LA City Planning Commission will consider approving the proposed Hollywood Community Plan Update (HCPU), along with a number of other approvals.

In addition to the HCPU, the City has prepared a Community Plan Implementation Overlay (CPIO) which will offer density bonusses of 100% for residential projects in Central Hollywood, along with Increases in Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of up to 6.5:1.

The CPIO also states that these projects can receive Ministerial Approval from the Director of Planning, which means there will be No Environmental Review under CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act), No Public Hearings are required, and No Appeals are allowed.

The announcement for the meeting says the CPC will also consider "amendments" to the Hollywood Redevelopment Plan to "clarify its relationship" to the HCPU.

However, some who have studied the proposed ordinance believe it essentially guts the Hollywood Redevelopment Plan, Removing Affordable Housing Requirements and Protections for Historic Resources.

The CPC will also consider adopting the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for the Hollywood Community Plan Update.

Unfortunately, with a little more than a week to go before the hearing, the FEIR has not yet been published.

Below is a link to the City Planning web page where many of the documents associated with the HCPU can be viewed, along with links to the CPIO and the announcement for the CPC hearing.
