The future of the Hollywood 'Regional Center' will be decided upon at the Hollywood Community Plan hearing tomorrow, March 18th, whether to add more UPZONING and FAR (floor area ratio) to our area, for much larger projects than allowed now, or in this current version of the HCP, after years of the Planning Dept. meeting with, and taking Community and Neighborhood Council Input, and former Councilmember David Ryu's support.

Our neighboring Hollywood areas, Sunset Corridor (west of LaBrea...two HPOZs) , Los Feliz, Melrose Corridor, covered in the previous hearing, that Planning had agreed upon zoning for their communities, after many years of working with Planning Dept., Neighborhood Council, and former Councilmember David Ryu, wound up having all that was agreed upon and in this version of the HCP, rejected, thrown out by a planning commissioner who wants to upzone everything, even more.

For our 'Regional Center", among the problems are that the plan provides no affordable housing, which was the #1 issue from hours of public comment and submissions to the Planning Commission, and if they do Upzone the area, that increases land value so nothing affordable will be built, so the Commissioners could not all agree to the additional Upzoning, and postponed the hearing until tomorrow, March 18th.

Also, the many years of protections for Hollywood Historic Resources like National Historic Register Hollywood Blvd. and many iconic Hollywood Historic Cultural Monuments, have been removed from this HCP, leaving Hollywood Historic Resources threatened with demolition for developer projects.
