Art Recreation

So many of us miss the joy of quietly looking at art with others. At a time when museums and galleries are closed, art education and appreciation doesn’t have to end. Creative juices can flow in isolation.

Find a piece of fine art from a museum website or book at home. Using household items pull it all together and take a picture with a mobile phone. Post the painting and your interpretation side by side on our new forum page Art Recreation. Please include the artist's name and title of piece. Click publish. Also click the follow button to get notifications when a neighbor posts his/her/gender neutral finished masterpiece.

Perfect for all ages. It's a cousin to Halloween.

For those who lust to do "Barberini Faun" we ask that you shoot it in profile.

A little background: Amsterdam artist, Tussen Kunsten, started the project on instagram a few months ago. @tussenkunstenquarantaine Nina Katchadourian was her original inspiration. Katchadourian made amazing Flemish portraits on a commercial flight in a tiny cabin bathroom. This artist is beyond inventive. http://www.ninakatchadourian.com/photography/sa-flemish.php

I can think of ten neighbors off the top of my head who will excel at this game. I asked Susan Harmon to start us off. Boy, did she deliver. Picasso’s “Woman With Loaves”. Fantastic results. She had a ball doing it and inspired me.

My attempt is on the new forum Art Recreation.
