Assemblymember Laura Friedman's SB 827 informational event, held this Saturday at LACC, may be of interest since Whitley Heights is now a TOC.. A 'Transit Oriented Community'.... higher density development all around us and on streets leading to Whitley Heights due to proximity to public transit ...train and buses.

Scott Weiner's bill, SB 827 will allow taller and more dense developments, less required parking, in areas that are half a mile from transit (trains and buses),  no design restrictions, no environmental testing, no CEQA (Ca. Environmental Quality Act), no community input, no city, city council, or neighborhood council involvement, no more 'hearings' for projects. Single family home neighborhoods will be also be 'densified' with higher density projects replacing single family homes. The jury is still out as to whether HPOZ's will be protected if SB 827 is passed.
