Whitley Ave. is a National Historic 'HPOZ Adjacent' and main entryway street,  and part of an original Historic District...before  the Whitley Heights HPOZ was established.

Ten buildings, including 1920 Whitley Ave.  have been identified by Hollywood Heritage as 'Historic Contributors'....from the 1920's and 1930's... 1920 Whitley Ave is  one of the last remaining homes from the Whitley Heights Original Ocean View

Tract Development.  Hollywood Heritage proposed an 'Alternative to Demo Plan' which the developer rejected but other developers in the areas have done to save older buildings..

The project has been approved..... with no community input.. The remaining nine 'historic contributors' from the 1920's and 30's are threatened with demolition to be replaced with higher density out of scale and character TOC (Transit Oriented Community) projects, and loss of affordable buildings.

The new project has been granted a  70% DOUBLE Density Bonus (5-7 stories + a roof top deck) in a 'Very High Fire Severity Zone' where only a 35% Density Bonus is allowed, to prevent 'adverse impacts to public health and safety', and potential loss of way more affordable housing than any TOC's can supply, as reported in CurbedLA .. "The New Rules Are Being Put To The Test In One Of Hollywood's Oldest Neighborhoods..Are Older Rent Controlled Buildings In Trouble Under LA's New Transit Density Policy?"

The building owner of another 'historic contributor' next door says he will have to sell, if this project is approved as proposed, since he will not be able to rent in his building next door to this out of scale and character building, also with all the additional traffic  and people it will bring.. ..and that's the 'domino effect' of the other 'historic contributors' going and being replaced with these larger projects.
