Hollywood Heritage Urges Monitoring City Planning Cases In Our Area During 'Safer at Home'

FROM HOLLYWOOD HERITAGE....

Tuesday, April 14, 2020

During the 'Stay At Home' restrictions all City Planning, Cultural Heritage Commission, Neighborhood Council Land Use Committee and HPOZ board meetings are currently unable to hold meetings to review pending project applications, ask questions of developers, and hear stakeholder input. However, the City Planning Department is still continuing to process applications and moving forward with project entitlements.

Although assurances have been given that Planning and Office of Historic Resources staff will be reviewing and signing off on projects, vigilance is still required for the protection of our HPOZs and Historic Resources. It behooves all concerned members, residents, and homeowners in Hollywood to ensure that projects are properly vetted and that stakeholder input is heard. LA City Planning has posted new Covid-19 rules, noting, "...the public can continue to submit comments on projects by email and phone to ensure an open and transparent process."

We encourage Hollywood Heritage members and concerned residents in the Hollywood Community Plan area to sign up for https://planning.lacity.org/resources/case-reports from City Planning and submit comments on cases affecting our area. You may wish to copy your emailed comments to us at hollywood.heritage1980@gmail.com as well as your City Council Member.

Please be safe during this difficult time, but join us by using your 'Stay At Home' time to do your best to help preserve our neighborhoods and historic resources!
