The Beginning of the End
Whitley Heights is an HPOZ... Historically Preserved Overlay Zone. Original homes can be changed on the inside - not the outside. It was done to protect the look of Whitley Heights by earlier residents. It's nice to see the Hollywood Bowl and Deputy Tellez and Post Alarm on the guest list this Sunday... but ignoring a discussion or explanation of SB50 - a California State Bill being discussed - is foolish. If passed... any home that is not part of HPOZ (those are homes built in WH after the 1920's) can be tore down and REPLACED with CONDOS as high as 4 to 6 stories. This means the "newer house" next to your vintage house will sell for SIX MILLION DOLLARS then torn down for modern crap and your house will be worth half of what it used to be. We hope it doesn't happen but if it does don't ask "Why didn't someone tell me!"

SB50 was placed on Suspense File on May 13 which means it’s pretty much dead until 2020. Bill info is here: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billSearchClient.xhtml
