Whitley Heights Centennial
Dear Whitley Heights Neighbors, WHCA turns one hundred in 2023. It's the oldest continuing civic association in Los Angeles. We are working on a book and a fundraiser to show our illustrious and occasionally madcap history - including great architecture. If you have vintage photos and/or tales of your house or our neighborhood, please send to: Whitleypix@gmail.com

Charlie Chaplin was an early resident.

1907 - the bandshell perched all alone at the top of Whitley Heights.

The mission style bandshell was built in 1903 for the purpose of luring potential buyers. In 1919 it hosted Hollywood's first Easter sunrise service. The Bowl adopted the tradition in 1921.

Marie Dressler and Wallace Beery were next door neighbors on Iris Circle. They starred in “Min and Bill” https://youtu.be/Wi5HGN6bEK8 together.

Actress Sybil Danning was one of the many residents of “Jean Harlow’s" mansion - featured here with her beloved Hansi.
We could fill volumes with our colorful history and the great cast of characters who called Whitley Heights home. Consider volunteering with research,..it's not boring. Thank you, Patty Dryden and John Girodo

What a fantastic project. Kudos to Patty & John!!!
